Chess Board Notation
A chess board consists of: Horizontal rows called Ranks and Vertical columns called Files
A location on the chess board is identified by its Rank, then File.
Each piece has a corresponding letter, except for the pawn.
K - King
Q - Queen
R - Rook
B - Bishop
N - Knight
Pawns have no letter notation so they are preceded with a blank

Pawns have no letter notation so they are preceded with a blank
For example if a pawn on white moves forward two spaces on to the rank "3" and file "e" then we would list it as 1. e3
if it was a Rook that moved rather than a pawn then the notation would be typed as 1. Re3
To show that a Piece has captured another during their move we would have an "x" between the piece Letter and the Location it moved
such as 17. Rxf6
Each player takes a turn and to keep track of what player makes what move we have Numbers on the very left of the Notation to show which move was in what order
